This is the Best List of Things to do in Grand Bend Ontario
Exploring your own backyard is incredibly rewarding. I know the grass usually looks greener on the other side of the fence, but honestly, I have discovered so many incredible places and reconnected with landmarks at home than I ever thought possible. My grandfather inspired me to travel to all corners of Ontario and see all the blessings that make up this remarkable province. I am getting through the Heavenly Centenary step by step and through it I have met awesome locals, spent a pretty penny on food, coffee, and wine, bought an absolutely fabulous vintage wardrobe so I can resemble Cher on photoshoots, and of course, uncovered untold stories from fellow Ontarians. The latest adventure had me exploring the things to do in Grand Bend Ontario. And here is what I uncovered…

Things to do in Grand Bend Ontario
As Grand Bend is such a popular and famous Ontario summer destination, you can only imagine how the locals have created a touristy, yet trendy atmosphere and ambiance for visitors. Here is a sneak peek at some of the super cool spots to check out while on your beachy holiday.
This shouldn’t come as a shock in this post as Grand Bend is on the shore of Lake Huron, one of the larger of the Great Lakes. In fact, my husband was actually taken aback by the swell of waves coming off a fresh water lake that were nearly as large as those within the oceans. Many enjoy not only sunbathing to work on the summer tan, but they also take up surfing, sailing, paddle boarding, fishing, swimming, and of course building sandcastles.
Grab Some Saltwater Toffee
The main drag of Grand Bend is prolific with beachy stores, summer clothing stores, and foodie stops to attract all visitors for a small indulgence. One of those is the Grand Bend Sweet Shoppe. A local confectionery, this wonderful candy store offers some incredible homemade truffles and treats, as well as a massive selection of saltwater toffee. A new sensation to my hubby, he sampled one flavour and immediately was smitten. So of course we left with a little bag of sticky goodness.
Try Ax Throwing
Looking for something super cool to experience while vacationing by the beach? Give ax throwing a try! For a nominal fee, you can take a stab at aiming at targets with an ax in hand. It honestly is one of the coolest things to do in Grand Bend. One small tip – they take cash only so make sure you have a little on you to avoid hefty fees at the ATM on the strip.
Go Surf Shopping
Every possible brand of surf gear is available on the main strip of Grand Bend. Grab some Billabong garb, Quicksilver trunks, or even a fun and colourful towel. Everything you need to hit the waves at their highest is available in the various stores here. Forget your swimmers? No worries AT ALL. Grab a bikini, a one-piece, tankini, or even a Speedo. Grand Bend definitely has you covered for everything you could need for fun in the sun on the beach.
Head back to the 1950’s-1960’s and stop in to this super funky and holiday-feeling diner! Enjoy traditional culinary delights that made diners the famous hangout for high schoolers and college kids throughout the decades. Enjoy burgers, fries, hot dogs, and chicken tenders served in baskets and wrapped with the vintage checkered parchment paper. Enjoy these dishes with a thick milkshake, float, or a variety of fountain drinks. Sit outside surrounded by Elvis memorabilia while listening to the 196’s jukebox tunes from the outside speakers. The drive-in is open seasonally for you to enjoy. Seriously order the fries. They are the BEST I have eaten in Ontario thus far.
Pro-Tip: The portion sizes are HUGE here! Buy the best fries in Ontario to share. Hubby and I couldn’t finish off both our helpings and were devastated such incredible french fries went to waste…
Go for a Spa Treatment
Looking for something a little more upscale than a tent, trailer, or cottage? Although the majority of vacationers to Grand Bend choose these venues and accommodations, the odd visitor wishes a little more elegance and luxury. This is where the Oakwood Resort comes in. Enjoy beautiful rooms and suites as well as a relaxing spa treatment in the swankiest and most popular Ontario beach town.
So there you have our round-up of things to do in Grand Bend Ontario. Enjoy one of the best beach towns outside of Toronto along Lake Huron. Make sure you pack the sunscreen, playlists of summer tunes, and all the anticipation for a holiday you’ll never forget.
