This is the best Star Wars Attractions Guide for your Disney Itinerary
May the 4th be with you! This week we celebrated Star Wars day. A day that caters to all the jedi fanatics out there who simply cannot get enough of the force and a galaxy far far away. As most Disney fans already know, Star Wars land in Hollywood Studios is busily getting built with a grand opening planned for 2019. But until this large expansion is accessible to the public, Walt Disney World has began its offerings of Star Wars attractions, spectacles, merchandise, and more sprinkled throughout the Hollywood Studios park. So in light of Star Wars day, here is our guide to the Star Wars attractions that need to be on the Disney itinerary of every Star Wars fan.
Star Wars Land Facts:
- The Dedicated Star Wars land will be approximately 14 acres! Whoa…
- A special Star Wars themed boutique hotel is currently being built! Now your fantasies of sleeping in a Millennium Falcon shaped bed just may come true in 2021…
- Rumour has it that there will be this super cool attraction where guests can pilot the Millennium Falcon! Whoaaaaa
- Another rumour has it that instead of cast members all over to assist, the land will have droids, aliens and other characters to make the land completely immersive! I seriously cannot wait to be served by BB-8 – do you think that is possible!?
- Blue Milk will be available to purchase!
Current Star Wars Attractions for your Disney Itinerary:
Until the expansion is open in 2019, Walt Disney World still offers a few Star Wars attractions to whet the appetites of guests and fans of the film franchise. These attractions are all located at the Hollywood Studios and should be included in your Hollywood Studios itinerary when you go. Here are the teaser attractions to get you and your jedis in the mood to head to a galaxy far far away.
Star Wars Launch Bay
This area of the park is all Star Wars. It has a great collection of artifacts including close-ups of costumes, props, and other rare movie items, inside info on the latest film in the franchise, a 10-minute tribute movie to the Star Wars films, exclusive merchandise, and the opportunity to meet three of your favourite characters – Chewbecca, BB-8, and Kylo Ren. None of these characters has a fast pass, so you will need to wait however long it takes to meet them. But my friends, it seriously is worth it. If you book the Star Wars Galactic Dessert Party (review coming soon!) you will get exclusive access to these characters with shorter lines, and possibly get the chance to meet a Storm Trooper. The Star Wars Launch Bay is located in the centre of the Animation Courtyard.
Star Tours – The Adventure Continues
This simulation ride is such fun! Enjoy heading through the galaxy on a led adventure by C3PO himself. Feel like you are really in the Starspeeder 1000 as you avoid obstacles and barely miss hitting meteors and other dangers through the sky! I don’t recommend this ride after eating though! Make sure you have an empty stomach. Fast Passes are obtainable for this attraction which really helps with the line times. This attraction is located at Echo Lake.
Jedi Training- Trials at the Temple
This show located right beside the Star Tours ride. Young Jedis get the opportunity to come up on stage and battle their favourite characters – the likes of Darth Vader!
Young Jedis get the exclusive experience to be trained by the Jedi on how to use the force to bring down the resistance with lightsabers.
Pro Tip: In order for young kids to get the opportunity to participate in the show, they need to register beforehand. Children must be between the ages of 4-12, register near the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular show and arrive on time. Spots are first come first serve.
March of the First Order
While you are at Hollywood Studios on your Disney itinerary, you may cross the path of the first order! They come out hourly each day led by Captain Phasma and march throughout the park on a parade route set for them. Stop along Hollywood Blvd. and watch them march by! It really is cool to see all the Storm Troopers walk right past you like a parade.
Star Wars – A Galaxy Far, Far Away
This show right in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, gets you right into the Jedi spirit. Enjoy a show that brings you favourite scenes for all your classic Star Wars films. See characters from the past and current franchise movies and cheer on your jedis as they use the force to defeat the resistance. There are several showtimes throughout the day featuring such characters as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Yoda, Ray, Leia, Darth Maul, and more.
Star Wars Galactic Fireworks Show
You just have to stay for the fireworks! At the moment the show at Hollywood Studios is themed around Star Wars and features images, music, and a lit up spectacular for all guests to feel as if they are truly in a galaxy far far away. The show has performances every night weather permitting.
My Favourite Star Wars Souvenir Finds
You cannot leave without grabbing a fun Star Wars souvenir! Here are our four favourites. For more super cool souvenirs, check out our 35 faves throughout the complex here.
The Yoda Backpack
I love this because it truly is an adorably cuddly replica of Yoda! This is a functional backpack that can carry the essentials. He isn’t cheap, but he truly is a unique find. There are a few similar ones on Amazon, but not the exclusive Disney one as shown here.
Create Your Own Droid
This is super cool – you can create your own droid! Check out the bins of props and tools and create your own unique droid that will remind you of your time in the galaxy.
BB-8 Bubble Maker
I saw Bubble Makers EVERYWHERE while at the Disney World parks! So why not grab one for yourself? The BB-8 one is adorable and looks just like the droid himself. They can be found throughout Disney Hollywood Studios. And while you’re at it, why not pick up some BB-8 ears too?
Create your Own Lightsaber
Just like the droids, guests can create their own unique lightsaber! Choose from a variety of props and colours to create that lightsaber you always wanted to fight the resistance. You never know, yours may defeat Darth Vader!
So there you have the current Star Wars attractions and features to get you in the mood for Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opening in 2019! What will you choose to add to your Disney itinerary?
