Hollow is the Best Local Coffee Bar in San Francisco
“If you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair…” a line from one of my favourite songs. A song that put the love-in and hippie movement of the 1960’s-early 70’s on the map and brought smiles to everyone listening. I think that song actually positioned San Fran high on my bucket list! Time will tell. Through this lyrical intro, it is safe to say that San Francisco is a wonderful city of character, sights, and seriously folks – coffee! My blogging friend Emily knew of a truly awesome local coffee bar in the heart of the city she had to share with us to include on our java-infused world map.

The Best Local Coffee Bar in San Francisco Has A Story…
Hollow is a travelers’ favorite local coffee bar in the Inner Sunset district of San Francisco, right by the Golden Gate Park. The owners, Dawn and William, started this cafe to create a neighborhood spot that would be a fun place for travelers to discover. Making it onto Lonely Planet on the third year put them on the map – and they have been able to meet people from all over the world! Now, they have 2 boys, which has allowed them to create a space for them and build on their original dream – to build a community around the things they valued. The lucky boys get to have vanilla milk (with real vanilla beans), help with the chalkboard signs, hangout with travelers around the world, and have birthday parties at one of the coolest cafes in San Francisco!
The Coffee, Tea, and Baked Goods
Hollow is known for their made-from-scratch butterscotch latte and vanilla bean latte with fresh vanilla beans. They also offer other unique and delicious drinks like drinking chocolate, dark chocolate mocha, green matcha lattes, chai and loose leaf organic teas. The green matcha latte especially looks gorgeous with foam art. Their coffee uses Ritual beans, a local San Francisco Roaster that practices fair trade practices.
You can’t leave with just coffee when you go there. They offer freshly baked goods that smell really good (I know because I am their neighbors)! They bake 90% of the baked goods they offer, which all have a focus on “delicious baked goods that are wholesome”. Their most popular item is an oatmeal cake, but they offer other things like oatmeal sunflower cookies, chamomile cake, and homemade animal crackers!
Dawn was an interior designer before making the switch to owning this coffee shop, and it shows! Besides their gorgeous yet simple decor, they offer California artisan foods, honey, and chocolates as well as handmade kitchen items.
