Grounded is the Best Local Coffee House in Midland Ontario
Guilty confession – i’m a Coffee NERD. I love a good cuppa joe in the morning, in the afternoon, or well, anytime really. So I have made it a mission to seek out local shops that put a different spin to the average brew. And I don’t mean just in my home town. I mean around the world so I I have a manual to reference when in a particular city. So far, I know where to go in New York City and Vilnius Lithuania. (Lucky me and my readers who love coffee too!). But of course, we can’t stop there. I happened to stumble upon a delightful shop just 90 minutes from Toronto Ontario, in Midland. And this little caffeine haven the locals love is Grounded, the best local coffee house in Midland Ontario.

More about Midland’s Local Coffee House
Grounded brings town folk together with its delicious variety of espresso crafted drinks, homemade baked goods, healthy smoothies, and my favourite – their coconut chia pudding, that seriously is the best I’ve ever eaten. Scott the owner brought this little gem to life, moving it from its original location, straight to the water’s edge giving patrons that glorious view of Georgian Bay from their patio. He has future renovation plans and a grand vision for glorious glass windows giving caffeine cravings that atmosphere they totally deserve.

The Grounded name became household in 1995. After bringing it to Midland Ontario, he knew it could be a possible market for such a great product as Midland hadn’t established its coffee market as of yet. (I mean, the options weren’t too plentiful – Tim’s and the local supermarket?) They needed a local establishment bringing great tasting coffee, friendly service, an approachable cafe for the community to convene for business, chats, or even Tinder meet-ups. The culture needed to be established among the town folk. And with that, Grounded re-opened in its current location with a rustic feel of wooden tables, greens and wood colours, and of course, the burlap bags of coffee offering that aroma appealing to all caffeine craving guests who arrive.
Chia Pudding, Lattes, and Other Fine Grub
So one of the main reasons other than coffee that brings me back over and over to Grounded when in town is their amazing chia pudding. This newfound love affair I have with this dish has me ordering it every time I visit. It is thick, creamy, made with coconut milk, and has a featured fruity compote. Depending on the time of year, I have enjoyed raspberry, rhubarb, and other berries. Each is amazing and will have you addicted.
I also love the fact that each time you go, the pastry offerings are different. You are not stuck with the same boring choices over and over again. This variety impresses and pleases guests as they know with each visit, there will be something new and tasty to try. I mean, who would seriously want a bran muffin every morning?
So there is no qualms or question about the quality of coffee and espresso drinks here! This was one of my main draws to Grounded before I had the chance to savour the chia pudding. I love lattes. They are my favourite espresso beverage and my drink of choice when at a local coffee house. I like the foam to be a certain level and if there is some sort of artistic element, I am all the more impressed. Grounded totally nailed my latte, AND, must have ESP as I have this thing for drinking out of a plain white mug – I hate it! So they served it to me in a pretty patterned mug that I just loved and could tell was a local artisan’s creation. If you are a drip coffee fan, no problem! The fair trade freshly “grounded” coffee in light and dark roasts, along with decaf options, will satisfy even the most nagging of caffeine cravings.
Not a fan of coffee? No worries – Grounded offers a variety of teas, smoothies, juices, and unique drinks as Golden Milk – a dairy beverage with the addition of turmeric.
Grounded at Local Events
So Midland is well known for town and national events! As Canada is famous for its butter tarts, Midland has held the province’s official Butter Tart Festival yearly with much success selling 10’s of thousands of tarts. It really has put Midland on the tourism map bringing thousands of customers with their nagging sweet tooth from across the province to get a dozen or two of these sweet national treats. Well, nothing pairs better with a thick and sugary butter tart, than a cuppa coffee, frothy latte, or thick smoothie! Grounded knows this and heads to the events via coffee bicycle. This year, the revolutionary local coffee shop intends to offer super cool nitrogen cold brew coffee. How cool is that!? I seriously cannot wait to try it.
Grounded has seriously left an incredible impression on the Midland folk as well as those visiting the town of history, beauty, and Ontario charm. Next time you head to cottage country, stop in and enjoy a chia pudding paired with one of their awesome crafted lattes or drinks. You will be happy you did.
