Our Exclusive Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival
Arrive Budapest airport. Transfer by bus to the hotel, accommodation. Dinner in local restaurant (3 course, 1 glass of wine/beer, water)
Day 2: Budapest
In the morning enjoy a city tour of Budapest by bus and local guide. Our classic city tour usually takes 3 hours, with stop in Hero’s Square, and the Castle. We also head to Matthias church and Fishermen’s bastion – for extra charge.
Lunch break (on your own), Dinner in local restaurant (3 course, 1 glass of wine/beer, water).
Day 3: Jewish Budapest
We enjoy a walking tour of Jewish part of the city today, visiting the Synagogue, Jewish museum and Emanuel memory tree. We also head to the Shoe Memorial found on the shore of the Danube (walking from Jewish district to Shoe memorial is approx. 30 minutes. Afternoon and evening is free to enjoy some of the incredible restaurants and nightlife this part of Budapest has to offer.
Day 4: The Incredible and Iconic Hungarian Baths
Free day to enjoy the baths of Budapest! We recommend Széchenyi, the biggest in all of Budapest, or the Gellért bath. Dinner in local restaurant (3 course, 1 glass of wine/beer, water).
Day 5: Lake Balaton
Today we take a trip to the west of Budapest. We drive along the northern part of the lake Balaton, the most beautiful part of this biggest lake in Hungary. On our trip we will visit Tihany, one of the most beautifully situated villages in Hungary. Here King Andrew I. founded a monastery and a royal burial-place in 1055, in accordance with the tradition of Christian monarchs. The present buildings were completed in 1754. Free time for lunch and to enjoy some shopping in local shops offering crafts and souvenirs. Optional visit to the church (for an extra charge).
This afternoon we visit a local family-run winery in Balatonfüred and enjoy a wine-tasting. The vineyards are located in the most beautiful area of Balatonfüred, Balatonszőlős and Pécsely. After the tasting we travel to Veszprém, where we head to the local castle, then transfer back to Budapest in the evening. On the way back we enjoy dinner in a local Inn (csárda), featuring traditional Hungarian goulash (3 course dinner, 1 glass of wine/beer, water).
Day 6: Eger
In the morning we travel to the small town of Eger, a city in northern Hungary. Eger is best known for its castle, thermal baths, historic buildings (including the northernmost Turkish minaret), and red and white wines. During a walking tour relive the history of the city again from the Turkish times until today. We will visit the most remarkable landmarks of the town, including the castle and its underground catacombs. We then take a short walk in Szalajka valley. Szalajka valley is situated at the edge of the Bükk hills. In the evening return to Eger. Dinner in local restaurant. Accommodation in local hotel.
Day 7: Hollókő
Today we visit Hollókő, a living museum village about 100 km from Budapest in the North of Hungary. The “Old Village” with its adjoining 141 hectare Nature Reserve was added to the Cultural and Natural UNESCO Heritages of the World in 1987. Nestling in one of the gentle valleys of Cserhát Mountain, the small village is a pearl of Hungary’s folk architecture evoking mist shrouded memories of folk tales. We will see traditional regional costumes and taste local delicacies such as homemade brandy and bread.
Lunch will be served in small family houses in the village where housewives, according to tradition, await with special dishes. Guests will get the opportunity learn about the lives of the hosting family. In the evening return to Budapest and accommodation in the same hotel.
Day 8: Pécs-Villány
In the morning transfer by bus to Pécs. Deemed a beautiful cultural capital of Europe, enjoy a walking tour of Pecs the UNESCO heritage site of decorated murals and religious buildings with our local guide. Enjoy such incredible landmarks as the 15th century Bastion, city hall, grand palace, and more. Shopping in the region includes various local family shops of crafts and artisan pieces. We also make a quick stop into Siklos for a photo opportunity of the medieval castle, before heading to Villány for our wine tour. In the afternoon transfer to Villány.
Wine-tasting on Bock winery:
The Bock winery is one of Hungary’s leading producers, with a long and remarkable history. The Bock family’s wine-making tradition can be traced back to the eighteenth century and spans over nine generations. The current owner of the family estate, József Bock, is a qualified mechanical engineer and took over running the winery after his father passed away. He has gradually built up a 55 hectare estate with plots of land in most of the very best vineyard sites in Villány. At the same time he has extended and modernized the winery, which is equipped with all the latest technology. Accommodation in local hotel (Crocus Gere wine hotel), and wine dinner.
Day 9: Back to Budapest
In the morning we transfer back to Budapest by bus. We visit the Parliament house with our local guide. Then, free time to explore the unseen sights of the city.
In the evening choice 2 options:
- Dinner cruise:
Budapest has many faces. This vibrant city calms down a little bit at nights, lights are lit up, and a new city comes out from the twilight. The boat will take the guests on a small cruise on the Danube to enjoy a marvelous view of the Castle Hill and other historical buildings nicely illuminated. During the two and a half hour cruise, a 4 course dinner will be served.
- Symphony concert
Day 10: Return
Check-out and transfer by bus to the airport.
