This is Why Crumble Coffee is the best bakery in Bloomington Indiana
I love road trips. I also love stopping in little towns and exploring the local businesses and unique crafts. It’s like the reunion of artisans coming together because they know i’m about to arrive with a fistful of dollars…or at least a terrible craving for caffeine. I haven’t travelled across the USA in a long time; however, this could change at any point and knowing where to explore and stop will be a bonus to my itinerary. Sarah from the wonderful blog Suitcase Six knows that many folks are like me – they travel through cities and like to stop for a coffee to unwind and refresh. And with this knowledge of road trip travel trends, she wished to share the details of an incredible eatery in the State of Indiana that no road tripper or visitor to the State should miss: Crumble – the best bakery in Bloomington Indiana.
More about this Incredible Bakery in Bloomington Indiana…
One of my absolute favorite coffee shops in Bloomington, Indiana is Crumble Coffee and Bakery. Given that there are some 20 coffee shops in a few-mile radius in Bloomington, that’s definitely saying something. Crumble has two locations, one just off Indiana University (IU) campus located near the downtown hustle and bustle; the other is near the IU College Mall near a student residential neighbourhood.

I love a lot of things about Crumble: the great coffee, the pastries, and the adorable ambiance. I’ve never had a drink I didn’t like there. Laura, the owner, makes some of the most delicious baked goods without fail. Last time I was there, she was revealing a new recipe – a chicken salad croissant with roasted chicken, grapes, and walnuts cooked inside the delicious doughy layers. The scones and cookies are dangerously tasty, especially if prone to stress eating during study sessions… I’ve also tried chai tea lattes, espressos, black coffee, iced coffee – all delicious.
Both locations are decorated beautifully, with bright colors, long wooden tables, and cute plants. Both locations hum with the chatter of students hard at work, professors discussing their work and research, and local residents meeting up with friends for some community at this bakery in Bloomington Indiana.
Still, my favorite part about Crumble Coffee and Bakery is definitely the owner, Laura! She’s one of the sweetest people I know and has a reputation of generosity toward local causes in the Bloomington area. She’s personally helped my workplace host cookie-baking workshops in a juvenile correctional facility and raise funds for our mentoring initiatives by providing beautiful cake-centerpieces and desserts for our fundraiser gala. She’s always looking to help, and it’s clear that her bakery exudes the same warm and welcoming vibe that Laura herself embodies. Plus, she’s still in her twenties and owner of two successful bakeries in a popular college town… a feat that is very inspirational to say the least.
If you’re ever in Bloomington, Indiana and find yourself in need of a caffeine or sugar pick-me-up, please stop by to see Laura and eat a cookie for me.
