I have travelled to India and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. You never know what you will see, what you will discover, what you will experience. Tea is a big deal in India. It is embraced and enjoyed every day by its citizens and the millions of visitors they welcome yearly. And knowing of this adoration for the brewed beverage, we invited our friend Shivani of the blog The Wandering Core to enlighten our readers of Chaayos, one of the best tea shops in the country.

Some of the Best Tea Shops are in India

Thinking about India, one must have heard about the famous “Chai”. Indian tea culture and its best tea shops are well-known for their chai drinks. In fact, chai is the first drink offered to guests here! With various coffee chains opening in India, tea was limited to local road-side stalls only. Chaayos came up with the idea of bonding over a freshly made homemade styled tea. The idea of freshly boiled tea slowly caught the fire and now it is one of best tea shops to hang out. Their name is as unique as their concept and hence Chaayos originated from typical Indian “Chai”.

Signature Drinks

Chaayos brought forward the idea of *meri walli chai* translated as *my kind of tea*. They prepare the tea fresh, boil in a pan right when you order unlike some other chains serving from already prepared tea. The base variant of the *chai* is “Desi Chai”. Desi Chai is typical red colored tea prepared from water, sugar, tea and, milk boiled to perfection. Various add-ons are available like the ones we add at our home, including cardamom, ginger, fennel and many more. Another famous chai from Chaayos is “Kulhad Chai”. It is a variant of “Desi Chai” with a difference of being in a kulhad aka earthen handle less pot. It is extremely famous in India, and people in rural areas still like the flavor of tea in a Kulhad. A unique flavor of a classic *chai* Kulhad tea is a must try from Chaayos.

Drinks apart from Quintessential Chai

Apart from these variants of signature chai, Chaayos also offer different types of tea. Some of them are special Pahadi Chai (Mountainous tea), green tea, honey ginger lemon tea, and much more. Ever tried special *Filter Coffee* from India? Chaayos offers that too. Wish to try something cold to beat India’s heat? Chaayos has the perfect solution! Just like the best tea shops out there, they have a unique way of serving cold drinks. Cake shake, Kulfi shake (an Indian ice cream), and Motichoor shake (motichoor is an Indian dessert) are their unique ways of staying true to Indian roots.

Snacks

*Chai* is best enjoyed with samosas or any salty snack in a typical Indian home. Chaayos cater to this need too. Their handcrafted menu has a special section of snacks from various parts of India. They have wada pao & Poha (flattened rice snack) from Mumbai, Matar kulcha from Delhi, or boiled black chickpeas seasoned with onion, green chili and lemon.

Paranthas are an integral part of a North Indian family. They chose their variant to a parantha and made it to an open parantha resembling pizza. *Palak-Patta Crispies* is one of their specialty dishes and my all-time favourite. It’s a spinach & tamarind snack good for one or two persons.

Decor

The ambiance of Chaayos is as unique as their theme. Decorated with typical glass teacups, bright yellow coloured walls, and Indian style cycles placed on the walls. Chaayos is a perfect place to enjoy a cuppa while capturing photographic moments with your friends & family.

How to place an order on Chaayos

Even placing an order is slightly different at Chaayos which can be confusing for first time user. They have a tablet on each counter where you need to key in your mobile number where you will receive a OTP. Once confirmed, you now have an account with them and points accumulate every time you order. Once the process is complete, you then place your order to the person behind the counter. They have a similar to most of the best tea shops. Similar to the naming your cups at Starbucks for example. Not that unique but I wouldn’t mind that.
