Kingdom Breweries Brewery tours in Phnom Penh
Half-hidden in Phnom Penh’s industrial north end is Kingdom Breweries, a company looking to change the image of Cambodia and beer. It’s not often that you’ll you find brewery tours in Southeast Asia, much less one that’s actually informative. The majority of what Kingdom produces is actually exported to countries like Thailand that have higher taxes or regulations that make small-batch brewing too expensive or outright impossible. But they reserve about ten percent of their production capacity for their own beers, which are sold in the tap room and at a few select bars and restaurants around the capital and in the tourist hot spot of Siem Reap.
The brewery tours at Kingdom cost $15, which seems like a steep price considering that most of Phnom Penh’s tourist attractions can be visited for under $10. That is, until you reach the tasting room at the end, where you’ll have the opportunity to sample each of their beers… as many times as you want. Drinks are unlimited from the end of the tour until the brewery closes at 5 pm, and they even have free peanuts!
Kingdom’s tap room is the perfect place to spend an afternoon with friends, taking in expansive views of the Tonle Sap and sipping some of the finest beers in the country.
